To assess the early teaching outcomes of the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year and accurately track international students’ Chinese learning progress, the School of International Education recently organized mid-term examinations for 2025 international students in the CATL International Talents Craftsman Class and Huayou Cobalt International Talents Order Class. Multiple assessment modules were designed to comprehensively evaluate students’ integrated Chinese application abilities.

This semester, these order classes offer Chinese courses including Elementary HSK, Elementary Listening, Elementary Speaking, and Elementary Reading & Writing, along with the featured cultural course A Journey Through Chinese Culture, balancing language skill improvement and cultural cognition cultivation. Aligned with course teaching objectives, the exams adopted diverse formats: written tests for Elementary HSK and Reading & Writing to assess vocabulary, character and grammar mastery; listening tests to check vocabulary recognition; and one-on-one oral tests, where invigilators asked questions on daily scenarios, evaluating students on pronunciation, intonation and expression fluency through themed presentations and situational dialogues.

All course teachers participated in organizing and invigilating the exams, following standardized procedures from venue setup and paper distribution to grading. They noted that they will analyze students’ learning weaknesses based on the results and adjust teaching strategies accordingly to provide more targeted guidance.

Adhering to the philosophy of "Language Empowerment + Professional Alignment", the two order classes use periodic assessments to strengthen students’ Chinese foundation, laying a solid groundwork for their future professional studies and corporate internships. The successful completion of the mid-term exams not only offers students a self-assessment opportunity but also provides an important reference for the continuous optimization of teaching quality.
