Oversea Experience Offered to Students and Teachers This Summer

Hou Fan, one SXPI second year Business English student, with other 9 SXPI students and lecturers, returned from Winnipeg, Canada to Xi’an airport at mid-night of August 14, all the delegation look happily and no tiredness on their face after the long journey. Hou’s delegation just finished a two week Summer English Language Institute in Red River College of Applied Arts, Science and Technology (RRC), which established cooperation relationship with SXPI in April, 2016. This is the second year SXPI sent delegation to RRC following 3 students participated in its summer program last year.

“The feeling is awesome. And the family I accommodated is very friendly and helpful. It is unforgettable and I just feel time goes so quickly”. Said Qiu Huailu, another female student returned from the RRC summer program.

The ongoing summer vacation, SXPI dispatched 48 students and 8 lecturers to participate in summer program in Newcastle College in the UK, Western Illinois University in the USA, Hof University of Applied Sciences, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Vladivostok State University of Economic and Service in Russia, Red River College of Applied Arts, Science and Technology in Canada and Dong-A University in South Korea. All the programs developed by SXPI and its oversea partners, most are for foreign language and cultural experience, some are for innovative technology programs. The visiting time span is from 12 days to 4 weeks. Some programs offer accommodation in the university dorms, like the programs in Russia and South Korea, some programs arrange the students accommodate in local families,like the UK and Canada program. Sending students and teaching staffs to its foreign partners for short time exchange program is one of SXPI international strategy to promote the mobility of its students and teaching staffs to the world, to open their international vision and help them to well understand the quickly changing world. Especially, SXPI hopes to facilitate its students to become global citizen through its international mobility programs developed recent years.SXPI has founded an annual 400,000RMB scholarship to encourage its students to participate in the international mobility programs since this year. It is expected more and more students and lecturers will benefit from the programs next year and future.

“We have learnt a lot from the three weeks innovative textile technology program in Hof University of Applied Science. We've got to know many friends from India and other countries, they are friendly and very smart, we learn from each other” Said Zhao Wei, one SXPI textile technology teacher. “I hope SXPI will have more and more this kind of oversea opportunity for its students and teaching staffs”.
