On June 28th, international students of SXPI participated in the painting and calligraphy exchange activity. The international students showed great interest in this activity.

In the first part of the activity, Mr. Gao Jianke briefly explained the knowledge of traditional calligraphy. First of all, Mr. Gao explained the four treasures of calligraphy -- pen, ink, paper and inkstone one by one, and guided the students in the correct writing method, writing posture and writing method, so that the foreign students have a preliminary understanding of Chinese calligraphy. Then Mr. Gao showed calligraphic works in different styles of official script, running script and regular script. After that, the teachers patiently demonstrated the way of holding the brush and the brush writing skills.

Under the professional guidance of the teacher, the students tried to write simple Chinese characters and quickly mastered the essentials. Sasha, an international student from Russia, picked up a brush and tried to write Spring Festival couplets.

In the second part of the activity, Mr. Wang Xintuan and Ms. Liu Fang introduced the uniqueness of Chinese painting, and let international students appreciate the excellent Chinese painting works. The teachers introduced that Chinese painting is a traditional Chinese painting with a long history. Its form is to dip the brush in water, ink, color painting on paper. Techniques can be divided pen and freehand brushwork.

Under the guidance of Teacher Mr. Wang Xintuan, Indonesian student Tang Mei tried to draw peony with Chinese brush. In the process of painting, the students not only experienced the traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting culture, but also increased their understanding of Chinese culture.

In recent years, the School of International Education has always taken strengthening cultural confidence as its mission, in order to "tell good Chinese stories, spread Good Chinese voices, explain good Chinese characteristics", and cultivate outstanding talents with international vision.
