The Origin of Xiuhe Clothing

Xiuhe is a traditional costume of the Han nationality. In 2001, the TV series《Orange Is Red》became popular, and the clothes worn by the leading actress Xiuhe were called "Xiuhe clothing". The style of Xiuhe has no real historical tradition, but is based on the re-creation of the scene of the novel. So it belongs to modern costume design.

The Meaning of Xiuhe

The making method of Xiuhe is more complicated, and Chaoshan handicraft is the most famous nowadays. Now the popular improved style for waist, middle sleeve, zipper design, become more fashionable and comfortable. In the 1950s, the pattern was dominated by dragons and phoenixes, with the homophone meaning of "auspicious" and "love". Up to now, the patterns on the skirt coat are mainly dragon and phoenix, with "Fu", "Xi", peony, mandarin duck, pomegranate and other patterns embellished. Meaning is auspicious, good luck in a hundred years.
