On December 2nd, Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute (SXPI) and UNESCO International Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNESCO-UNEVOC) Network Secretariat held a working meeting in order to effectively launch and run the UNEVOC Center at SXPI. The meeting was attended by Mr. Olivier Pieume, Team Leader for the UNEVOC Network Secretariat, Ms. Kenneth Barrientos, Regional Focal Point for Asia and the Pacific, Mr. Ruairi Gough, Programme Assistant of the UNEVOC Network Secretariat, Ms. Sanskruti Ghosalkar, Programme Assistant of the UNEVOC Network Secretariat, Mr. Jingjun Qin, Dean of the School of International Education at SXPI, and Teachers of the School of International Education at SXPI. Ms. Sanskruti Ghosalkar moderated the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Olivier Pieume first congratulated SXPI on its successful approval of the UNEVOC Center project and welcomed SXPI to join the UNEVOC Network. Then he explained the roles and responsibilities of the UNEVOC Network members, as well as the important vocational education projects that SXPI should focus on in the future. He hoped that SXPI would participate actively in critical global vocational education activities. Ms. Kenneth Barrientos introduced the UNEVOC Network activities in the Asia-Pacific region, hoping to strengthen cooperation with SXPI, carry out important vocational education activities, and promote the exchange and sharing of vocational education experience in future work. Ms. Ke Li, Lecturer of the School of International Education at SXPI, introduced the basic situation of SXPI, its international cooperation, and its participation in the UNEVOC Network in the early stages.

Mr. Jingjun Qin appreciated the UNEVOC Network on behalf of SXPI for its long-term concern and assistance. He stated that SXPI will study the spirit and important issues of UNESCO in promoting the development of global vocational education, actively participate in the important projects and activities carried out by the UNEVOC Network, learn from advanced international vocational education experience, and contribute to the development of global vocational education.

This meeting also discussed the work plan for 2023–2024 and the inauguration of the UNEVOC Center at SXPI and reached a consensus on the implementation of UNEVOC Center projects. SXPI and the UNEVOC Network Secretariat are scheduled to hold their second working meeting in January 2023 to discuss the implementation of the projects.
