Welcome to Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute (SXPI). From now on, wherever you come from, you are part of the SXPIers. You are about to usher in a new life and a new future.
This guide is to help every new student prepare thoroughly for arrival to China and registration in SXPI. We hope it can assist you to settle here at SXPI.
1. Climate in Xianyang City (Shaanxi Province, China)
The graphs below show the monthly weather averages over the year. The hottest season/summer takes place in May, June, July and August, the months of January, February and December are very dry and cold.
2. Items you may need during your stay in China
1) Electronic devices: laptop and accessories, power adaptor, AC adaptor, portable charger, etc. (The standard voltage in China is 220V. The picture below shows the standard power socket in China. Please bring your own voltage conversion devices.)
2) Bedding: bed sheet, duvet cover, pillowcase, duvet, mattress, etc.
3) Toiletries: lippers, bath towel, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
4) Clothing: The weather in Xianyang is distinct among the four seasons. The summer temperature is about 30°C~38°C, and the winter temperature is about -5°C~5°C. Please bring clothes according to the climate.
5) Common drugs: drugs for respiratory and digestive diseases, painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, mosquito repellent, moisturizer and so on.
6) It is advisable to bring some cash (RMB) with you to pay the basic expenses for daily necessities before you can use mobile payments or debit cards.
7) 2-inch color ID photos with white background.(the JPG format photo is needed as well)
8) It is recommended that you keep at least 2 photocopies of your important documents. Also, we suggest you have your important documents translated to Chinese before leaving your country.
*Items such as electronic devices and daily necessities can also be purchased on campus or nearby shopping malls.
3. How do you arrive at SXPI
SXPI is located in Xianyang City, approximately 15 kilometers north of the Xi'an-Xianyang International Airport. The address of weicheng campus is 12 wenhui west road(咸阳市渭城区文汇西路12号). Please send your flight information to SXPI International Education School Office email: xinqi@sxpi.edu.cn ahead, if you are requiring a pick-up service from the Xi'an-Xianyang International Airport.

The ORIGINAL Admission Letter
The ORIGINAL JW Form (Please make multiple copies of JW form in advance for each future visa extension)
The ORIGINAL copy of your previous degree certificate.(Notarized English translations for previous degree certificate is required if it is in other languages.)
The ORIGINAL copy of your transcript
The ORIGINAL copy of Physical Examination Form for Foreigners
*If you cannot register ontime, you need to provide an official explanation in email to SXPI International Education School Office.
If you do not register without a report for morethan 2 weeks, you will be seen as automatically dropped out.
5. Students Insurance
According to the relevant regulations of China, all international students whose duration of studies in China exceeds six months must purchase insurance by themselves.The insurance fee required is RMB 800 per year.(The insurance can be purchased after arriving in China, for more information, please check: http://en.lxbx.net/)
