The conference of BRICS Vocational Education Alliance, hosted by China's Ministry of Education, was held online and offline in Beijing on April 27 to implement President Mr. Xi Jinping's proposal of establishing a BRICS Vocational Education Alliance at the 13th BRICS Leaders' Meeting. More than 100 representatives from vocational education authorities of BRICS countries, diplomatic envoys to China, industry organizations, vocational colleges and enterprises attended the meeting, to witness the establishment of the BRICS Vocational Education Alliance. As one of the 68 sponsoring members from five countries, SXPI sent representatives to participate in the conference by video conference.

Chinese Vice Minister of Education Mr. Tian Xuejun delivered a video address. Mr. Tian Xuejun noted that with the joint efforts of the five countries, the BRICS Vocational Education Alliance was formally established. This was of great significance to promoting the reform and development of vocational education in five countries, building a dialogue and information platform, and promoting deeper and more concrete cooperation in vocational education. It made positive contributions to jointly tackling challenges in education, boosting economic transformation and industrial upgrading of our countries, and creating a new era of global development.

Mr. Tian Xuejun put forward three suggestions for the future development of the Alliance. First, the five countries should participate together. The building of the Alliance should follow the principle of openness and cooperation and give full play to the initiative of each country. Second, the integration of industry and education should be deepened, the adaptability of vocational education should be enhanced, and more high-quality talents should be trained to meet the needs of economic and social development. Third, modern technology such as green technology and digitalization should be used to accelerate the reform of the training model for skilled personnel.

The vocational education authorities of BRICS fully affirmed and actively supported the establishment of the Alliance. The Ministers of Education of the five countries delivered speeches in the form of video or congratulatory letters respectively. They also said they would encourage and support their member units to actively participate in the building of the BRICS Vocational Education Alliance and promote practical cooperation.

The BRICS Vocational Education Alliance is led by China Education Association for International Exchange, the National Committee of the Federal Network of Vocational, Scientific and Technical Education Institutions in Brazil, the National Institute for the Development of Vocational Education in Russia, the Directorate General of Training in India, and the Deans of South African Colleges, with the support and guidance of the competent vocational education authorities of BRICS countries. Industry organizations, vocational colleges, research institutions and enterprises jointly initiated the establishment. The first rotating President of the Alliance is Mr. Liu Limin, President of China Education Association for International Exchange.

Guided by the principles of "equality, mutual benefit, cooperation and win-win", the Alliance aims to create a multilateral platform for information exchange, experience sharing and project cooperation in vocational education among BRICS countries, so as to empower young people, boost employment and serve the economic and social development of BRICS countries.
