On May 24, the third session of the Ministry of Education's "Ten Years of Education" "1+1" release interview event was held in Beijing. This event focused on the achievements of vocational education reform and development since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and described the "difficulties" and "achievements" of vocational education in the past ten years from different perspectives in China. Mr. Chen Ziji, Director of the Department of Vocational Education and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Ren Youqun, Director of the Department of Teacher Work of the Ministry of Education, Ms. Xing Hui, Director of the Academic Committee of the National Academy of Education Administration and Director of the Vocational Education Research Center, attended the meeting. Ms. Xing Xiaoying, an outstanding graduate of SXPI and a practical teacher of the Basic Industry Training Center of Tsinghua University, was invited to attend the meeting and made a speech.
The topic of Ms. Xing's speech was "Bathing the Spring Breeze of Vocational Education & Depicting a Wonderful Life". She shared her ten-year unremitting struggle to grow from a vocational student to a practical teacher of Tsinghua University through continuous study and honing of skills. She encouraged the majority of vocational education students to set up lofty ideals, study professional theories seriously, and practice technical skills diligently with the SXPI's motto of "Being virtuous and diligent in learning, Refining techniques, Strengthening the body".
Ms. Xing Xiaoying, a 2011 graduate of SXPI majoring in material forming and control, joined the Basic Industry Training Center of Tsinghua University in 2014, and is engaged in the technical guidance of casting experiments in the forming manufacturing laboratory. She won the Special Prize and First Prize for Practical Teaching of the Basic Industrial Training Center for six consecutive years. In 2021, the video of Ms. Xing Xiaoying giving a casting class became popular on the Internet. In the video, her passionate teaching method and skilled technical skills received 200 million views and millions of likes.
Her dual identities as "higher vocational student" and "Tsinghua teacher" attracted many media such as《China Education News》，《China Youth Daily》，《Beijing News》and so on. She used her struggle to prove once again that " Vocational Education Has a Bright Future and Great Potential".
Ms. Xing Xiaoying is not an exception. In the past 10 years, SXPI has firmly grasped the historical opportunity period of the major reform and development of vocational education, constantly opened up its horizons, focused on consolidating the foundation, integrated high-quality vocational education resources, empowered teachers' professional development, promoted the comprehensive school function type and education model，and upgraded the education model. So far, SXPI has sent 150,000 outstanding students to the society.
At present, a total of 13 graduates are working in the Basic Industry Training Center of Tsinghua University, including majors in machinery, numerical control, materials, and welding. In addition, many graduates serve as training instructors in universities such as Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics and Zhejiang University of Technology. In the future, the school will continue to thoroughly implement the spirit of the National Vocational Education Conference, and strive to build a modern higher vocational college with Chinese characteristics and world-class level.
