New Zealand Ambassador, Clare Fearnley, Visits SXPI

On June 17th, New Zealand Ambassador to China, Clare Fearnley, Visited SXPI. Meanwhile, the First Secretary of New Zealand Embassy, Luke Barrington, Science Counselor, Clinton Watson and the Policy Chief, Xia Fangzi, kept accompanied. SXPI Party Secretary, Mr. Huizhaoyang, President, Ms. Zhang Xiaoyun and Vice President, Mr. Mei Chuangshe as well as other main corresponding faculty leaders and departments welcomed the guests.

Mr. Hui Zhaoyang first extended the warmest welcome to Her Excellency, Clare Fearnley on behalf of more than 20,000 staffs and students in SXPI. He then gave a basic introduction to SXPI and the achievements it made in recent years in the areas of teaching evaluations, school-running indicators and international cooperation. He praised that New Zealand’s vocational education was well-developed and enjoyed a high reputation around the world. “In recent years, SXPI has carried out effective exchange and cooperation projects with Wintec Institute of Technology in New Zealand, which has enhanced our international influence to a large degree. SXPI is now striving to create the first-class vocational college and professional groups with Chinese characteristics. This visit is an important opportunity to further strengthen educational cooperation and exchanges between SXPI and New Zealand. And It is of great significance to promote the Teacher Training Base of Sino-New Zealand Vocational Education Model Programme. ” He also reported to Her Excellency, Clare Fearnley, on his vision for a further promotion on this Model Programme from the aspects of holding international conferences, developing micro-engineering certificates, organizing lectures on vocational education, selecting backbone teachers for training in New Zealand and developing researches and studies on vocational education. He sincerely wished that the Embassy of New Zealand could provide support and help to SXPI in Sino-New Zealand cooperation in running schools and could recommend Excellent youth from New Zealand to come here to have exchange studies.

Her Excellency,Clare Fearnley expressed her sincere thanks to the warm reception of SXPI. After describing the educational exchanges between China and New Zealand in recent years, she said that New Zealand Government has attached great importance to the educational cooperation with China, especially in the field of vocational education. The Sino-New Zealand Vocational Education Model Programme, which was established in 2013 by the two government, has achieved remarkable results through practical cooperation between the two sides. She spoke highly of the cooperative project between Wintec Institute of Technology and SXPI and congratulated on the unveiling ceremony of the Teacher Training Base of Sino-New Zealand Vocational Education Model Programme at the Silk Road Education Fair in Xi’an in May. She also expressed appreciation for the series of cooperation projects to be implemented by SXPI and said that the New Zealand Embassy will actively provide the best support and help for the cooperation and exchanges between the two sides.

After the meeting, Her Excellency, Clare Fearnley also visited the Teacher Training Center of Sino-New Zealand Vocational Education Model Programme and Intelligent Manufacturing Training Center of SXPI.
