From August 19th to 20th, the first World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, co-hosted by the Ministry of Education, the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, was successfully held in Tianjin. Vice Premier Sun Chunlan of the State Council read out the congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping and delivered a video speech. Representatives from government agencies, international organizations, industrial enterprises, schools and research institutions from 123 countries (regions) attended the conference.
The delegates conducted in-depth exchanges and extensive discussions on the theme of "The Development of Vocational and Technical Education in the Post-epidemic Era: New Changes, New Methods, and New Skills". SXPI's President Liu Yongliang was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech at the Engineering Education Development in Vocational Education Institutions.
Focusing on the theme of "Serving the Manufacturing Power Strategy, Vocational Education is Promising", SXPI’s President Liu Yongliang took the ability of vocational institutions to run engineering education well and cultivate outstanding engineering and technical talents as the starting point. From three aspects: vocational education provides a new model for engineering education, new problems in the development of engineering education in higher vocational institutions, and new paths for vocational institutions to carry out engineering education, he first deeply analyzed the internal relationship between vocational education and engineering education for mutual promotion. Secondly, He also deeply analyzed the key problems in the development of engineering education in higher vocational institutions, such as insufficient adaptability of talent training programs, insufficient adaptability of talent training models, and insufficient adaptability of key elements of talent training.
Finally, he introduced the new achievements and typical experiences of SXPI in cultivating engineering and technical talents from five aspects: creating a new scenario for engineering education, innovating a new path for "intelligent manufacturing" talent training, building a new model for talent training, forming a new mechanism for co-construction and expanding a new vision of international cooperation.
It is reported that this conference includes the main forum and 14 parallel forums. At the same time, the World Vocational College Skills Competition, the World Vocational Education Industry-Education Integration Expo, and the World TVET League would be held. The conference released the white paper "Report on the Development of Vocational Education in China", introduced the development experience of Chinese vocational education to the world, put forward Chinese plans, contributed Chinese wisdom, and released the "Tianjin Initiative" for the future direction of vocational education development.
